What is Forest Bathing & How Can It Gently Transform Your Well-Being?
Forest bathing, also known as βshinrin yoku,β is a healing tradition that originated in Japan in the 1980s and still being endorsed by the Japanese government as a preventative health measure. It involves mindfully walking through the forest using all five senses to become one with your natural surroundings.
This isn't about achieving anything or doing it "right." It's about simply being - and allowing nature to work its quiet magic.
Studies show that spending time in nature provides a multitude of health benefits, including:
- Reduces stress, anxiety, even symptoms of depression
- Lowers blood pressure and heart rate
- Boosts immune system function
- Increases energy and ability to focus
- Supports mental clarity and helps with decision-making
- Elevates mood through increasing serotonin production
It offers a pause - a chance to step away from the noise and return to yourself.

I recently experienced a forest bathing session with Living Limitless, and I couldn't be more impressed with the experience. Under Eeva's expert guidance, what I initially thought might be a simple walk in the woods turned into a deeply calming and mindful journey.
The session provided a perfect escape from daily stresses, allowing me to connect with nature in a structured yet organic way. Eeva has a natural talent for guiding participants through mindfulness exercises, helping to release tension and find presence in the moment.
What sets this experience apart is how accessible Eeva makes the practice of forest bathing. Her gentle guidance creates a safe space for both beginners and experienced practitioners to explore mindfulness in nature. The session left me feeling remarkably centered and refreshed.
I highly recommend Living Limitless's forest bathing sessions to anyone seeking a meaningful way to reduce stress and cultivate mindfulness in their life. Eeva's expertise makes the experience both approachable and profound.- Shawn, Steinhausen
What happens in a forest bathing session?
The sessions are intended to help you feel more connected to nature in a simple and enjoyable way.
Each session is 60 minutes and includes:
A series of guided nature connection activities (no strenuous movement)
Gentle invitations to awaken your senses and notice
Sharing circles (always optional - participate as much or as little as feels right)
A closing circle to integrate and reflect
Youβll leave feeling lighter, clearer, and more connected - to yourself and the world around you.
In nature's quiet, your nervous system can finally exhale. With every slow step, gentle breath, and moment of stillness, you begin to soften.
You don't have to figure anything out. Just be. And in that being, something starts to shift.

Bring the restorative power of nature to your workplace.
A guided 1-3 hour forest bathing experience helps teams slow down, reduce stress, and return with greater clarity, creativity, and focus. Through sensory-based activities and mindful pauses in nature, colleagues reconnect with themselves and each other, strengthening well-being, collaboration, and resilience.
These workshops help your team step away from the demands of work, recharge in a natural environment, and experience benefits such as:
Stress Reduction: Lowers cortisol levels and enhances relaxation.
Creativity & Problem-Solving: Promotes out-of-the-box thinking and innovation.
Mental Clarity & Focus: support attention restoration, allowing for increased productivity and focus.
Enhanced Team Cohesion: Provides a shared, restorative experience that strengthens team dynamics.
Letβs connect to discuss your goals and expectations for the workshop or offsite. Based on our conversation, Iβll prepare a proposal for nature-based experience tailored to your groupβs needs.
Once you approve the plan, Iβll select a green space near your workplace or venue, and together weβll arrange all practical details - timing, travel, and accessibility, so your team can simply arrive and enjoy the day.
For nearly a decade, I was a high-achieving, successful lawyer working for one of the world's most prestigious organizations. From the outside, everything looked perfect. But behind the achievements, I was slowly burning out.
My nervous system had become trapped in permanent survival mode. I was running on pure autopilot - completely depleted by everything I was doing, yet unable to stop. The warning signs were everywhere: waking up exhausted no matter how much I slept. Having zero motivation for things I once loved. Feeling reactive to the smallest inconveniences. I found myself avoiding any conversation that might require emotional presence. Carrying resentment but not knowing why. Getting sick more often than I cared to admit.
But I kept pushing forward. I couldnβt bear the thought of letting anyone down - whether colleagues, manager, leadership or loved ones. I didnβt know how to say no. I didnβt know how to stop. I didnβt know how to rest.
Until my body began to shut down. Chronic inflammation took over. I was physically falling apart. When I looked at myself in the mirror, I couldn't recognise the person - she wasn't there anymore.
That breakdown became my breakthrough.
In that moment of complete depletion, the first step I naturally took was to return to nature. Growing up in Finland, forests and lakes had been my playground - a place where I'd always found safety and comfort.
There was a park behind my house in Geneva. For years, I'd only gone there for runs with earphones blasting, or picnics with friends. But now, for the first time in all those years, I began walking thereβ¦no headphones, no distractions. And I started noticing what I had completely missed: the scent of the earth after rain, the birds actually singing, leaves rustling gently in the wind.
I could feel my anxiety slowly melting away, my heart rate slowing down. I could feel the solid ground beneath my feet and sense more space opening up in my body as those endless to-do lists finally started to fade.
It was like the park came alive - and I slowly came back to life with it.
This became my starting point. Nature gave me the reminder and energy to begin caring for myself again. I returned to my yoga mat for regular practice, slowly opening up muscles that had been locked tight for years. I started cooking real food instead of surviving on stress, sugar and coffee. And for the very first time in my life, I became open to letting someone else support me - hiring a cognitive behavioural therapist, then a coach.
I started seeing clearly again - both where I was and where I wanted to go.
Nature became my refuge, my sanctuary where I could finally remember who I was beneath all the achieving and striving. It was where I learned to heal not just from burnout, but from the disconnection that had created it.
This transformation changed everything. And now, it's become my calling.
I guide others - especially high-achieving professionals who see themselves in my story - back to calm, clarity, and sustainable balance through the healing presence of nature. Because I know the path back to yourself begins not with doing more - but with feeling safe enough to pause, breathe, and listen. Thatβs where healing begins.
Iβm here to help you create that safe, restorative space to slow down, reconnect with yourself - so you can feel calm in your body, clear in your mind, and grounded in how you live and lead.

I joined Eeva and a wonderful group of women for a Forest Bathing session, and it was truly special. Eeva guided us with such grace and professionalism, leading us through mindful activities that helped us slow down and connect deeply with nature.
We journaled, sat in stillness, and simply took in the peaceful beauty around us. I returned home feeling completely refreshed, calm, and grounded.
If youβre considering Forest Bathing, I canβt recommend Eeva enough. Her gentle presence creates a safe, serene space to truly reconnect - with yourself and the world around you.

Eeva offers a great coaching in nature which (re)activates the awareness of how nature triggers can relieve the daily life stress.
The sessions took me to the memories of my childhood where the sensations triggered by nature were vivid and rich. The impact on the soul and body was already tangible after a short time (Stress relief, inner balance, happiness). I highly recommend this program with Eeva for someone who wishes to find balance, reduce anxiety and relieve stress.
